Stephen Framil

1st series concert, Wissahickon High School at 8:00pm

Shostakovich, Overture on Russian and Kirghiz Folk Themes
Dvorak, Cello Concerto with soloist Stephen Framil
Mussorgsky / Ravel, Pictures at an Exhibition
An exciting season opener this year, with the appearance of internationally renowned cellis Stephen Framil. He'll join the orchestra for a performance of Antonin Dvorak's Cello Concerto, one of the staples of the repertoire, a virtuosic showpiece for the cello. We'll also celebrate centenary with the Russian master's Overture on Kirghiz and Russian Themes, and conclude with the colorful Ravel orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Welcome the holiday season with carols, cookies, hot drinks, popcorn and a movie.

Children's concert, Wissahickon High School at 1:30pm

Program Forthcoming
Our annual Children's Concert is entertaining and educational for yound and old alike. A young virtuoso will join the Ambler Symphony to perform, 6 year old pianist Joseph Block. Donations at the door.

Menges Scholarship concert , Upper Dublin Lutheran Church at 2:30pm

The annual Menges Scholarship concert has become one of the most exciting converts of our season. The young people who won the auditions, and who will each appear with the Ambler Symphony as soloists, are among the most promising young musicians in the tri-state area. It's an afternoon of music you shouldn't miss.

2nd series concert, Wissahickon High School at 8:00pm

Sibelius, Violin Concerto with soloist Paul Roby
Beethoven, Symphony No. 3 in E Flat Major, Op. 55 "Eroica"
Violinist Paul Roby makes a return appearance with the Ambler Symphony this year. Roby, Associate Principal Second Violinist of the Philadelphia Orchestra will play the Sibelius Violing Concerto, one of the 20th century's most frequently performed masterworks for the violin and orchestra. The concert will conclude with the Beethoven Symphony No. 3, the Eroica.
