Soloist Biography

NORMA MEYERNorma Meyer
Pianist-conductor, NORMA MEYER has an active performing career. She is a founding member of Piano4 (www.piano4.org), a four-piano quartet, and has toured through the US with them since 2001. Piano4 performances have included the opening of the Philadelphia Bach Festival with the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, at which Ms. Meyer performed Bach’s concerti for 2, 3 and 4 pianos. Tracks from their CD, “Piano4 Christmas,” have been aired nationally. This CD includes arrangements featuring Bunny Sigler, an internationally-known, Grammy-Award- winning Philadelphia vocalist. In this venture, along with work with son Ranaan Meyer (composer and bassist of Time for Three), she has worked as co-arranger/composer as well.

A respected collaborative pianist, her current work includes performances with Ranaan, Nancy Stokking, and Jonathan Beiler in sonata and ensemble performances. Venues of recent seasons have included Verizon and Carnegie Halls.

She continues her lifelong commitment to music education in outreach programs, as an accompanist and as a collaborative coach.

It is interesting to note that Ms. Meyer performed the first movement of the Kabelevsky “Youth” Concerto at what is believed to be its Philadelphia premiere. The performance, at the Robin Hood Dell with the Philadelphia Orchestra, featured her as a winner of the orchestra’s annual children’s solo competition. A native to the Philadelphia area, her early studies were at the Settlement Music School, followed by the Interlochen Arts Academy (MI), Philadelphia Musical Academy and Temple University.
